Q. What is U-Match.net?
U-Match.net is an interactive online community designed to help you meet people from your classes and around campus! Here you can match your class schedule with other students, exchange textbooks, send personal notes, form study groups with the help of class message boards/weblogs, and much more! Please visit our about page to learn more.
Q. How is U-Match.net affiliated with the University of Washington?
The Associated Students of the University of Washington brings U-Match.net to all students to use for free.
The ASUW feels that U-Match.net is a great tool that any student can use to improve their experiences at college.
Q. Is it secure?
Only people with valid school email addresses can create an account and access user profiles. You are able to put in as little or as much information as you want about yourself.
Q. Is it free?
Yes! It costs absolutely nothing to create an account and use U-Match.net.
Q. I already know the people in my classes, why should I sign up?
U-Match.net does much more than just let you meet your classmates. You can buy and sell textbooks, put up a classified ad, or search for people who are not in your classes that share your interests.
Q. Who can sign up for U-Match.net?
This site is designed specifically for students in mind. We discourage faculty and staff from creating accounts, since we want to make U-Match.net a place for students to feel comfortable to talk about anything they want to talk about.
Q. Sounds cool, how do I get started?
- First create a new account. An email will be sent to your UW email address.
- Check your mailbox for the "Welcome to U-Match.net!" email message and click on the link it gives you.
- You will now be logged into U-Match.net! From here you can enter in your classes and create an extensive personal profile with a bio, friends list, interest list, class list, favorite links, up to six pictures of yourself, and much more. You can put in as little or as much as you like.
- See who matches you and start talking, look for your textbooks, and surf around.
- Tell all your friends about U-Match.net. The more people, the better.
Privacy
Q. What sort of privacy features does U-Match.net have?
You have the option of hiding your class schedule from public view. Only people who are in the same course as you will be able to see your class and section.
You can also chose who you want seeing your information, anybody, your friends, or nobody.
Q. Will you ever sell or give my information to other companies, or send me junk mail?
Never! Never, never, ever!
